Clearing the field will examine how tactics, weaponry, and 18th and 19th Century social views influenced casualty clearing and military medical care. Though many of the techniques used by period military surgeons seem crude by modern standards, the truth is they did their best in the unforgiving environment on the North American battlefield, and countless lives were saved because of their efforts.
