The Bruce County Museum has always had a significant display of artifacts telling the story of the original inhabitants of the area. When I was approached in 2016 about being a part of a new Anishnaabwe Endaat gallery, telling the story of the areas indigenous people in more depth, I immediately was onboard. Admittedly my knowledge of indigenous history was good, but having to study it further as I crafted the dioramas was a rewarding experience. I had the enjoyable opportunity of working closely with Dr. Bill Fitzgerald a noted Canadian archaeologist whom I absorbed as much information as I possibly could. I was elated to hear that the exhibit won the Lieutenant Governor’s Ontario Heritage Award for Excellence in Conservation in 2020. Everyone involved in the exhibition worked tremendously hard and this award was well deserved by all. I was proud to have made a sizeable contribution to this very successful venture.
